Child injured in hit-and-run at Parker Elementary School

Bay County, Florida - A 6-year-old student was struck by a car while being dropped off at Parker Elementary School on Thursday morning at 7 a.m. The driver of the car initially checked on the child but then drove off, resulting in a third-degree felony charge. The child sustained minor injuries, and the driver, identified as Darius White, turned himself in and was charged with leaving the scene of a crash with injury. Chief James Baxley emphasized the need for parents to follow drop-off regulations and avoid stopping in the middle of the road. To address safety concerns, the Parker Police Department will have an increased presence during drop-off times and enforce a $160 fine for any parent caught violating the rules. Chief Baxley underlines the importance of parents being patient and safely escorting their children to school.
