Child dies as car smashes into suburban Chicago restaurant
A tragic incident occurred in Illinois on Wednesday when a vehicle crashed into a restaurant, resulting in the death of a 2-year-old boy and injuries to several others. The incident took place at a Portillo's location in Oswego, a village near Chicago. The driver, a 50-year-old woman, was alone in the vehicle at the time of the crash. Police Chief Jason Bastin described the event as an accident, but investigations are ongoing. Fourteen people were injured, with eight being taken to hospitals, including the driver who was speaking after the crash. Among those hurt, three have serious injuries. The child who died was inside the restaurant during the crash. Chief Bastin expressed condolences to the family and stated that it was still early in the investigation to determine if any charges would be filed.
