Chicago man accused of murder in fatal South Side car collision
A man from Chicago has been arrested in connection with a tragic incident that resulted in the death of a woman and injuries to two others in Woodlawn last year. Markell Reeves, aged 40, was taken into custody in Lansing, Illinois on Monday and is facing charges related to a collision that occurred on the evening of May 25, 2024, near the 6400 block of S. Cottage Grove Avenue. Reports indicate that the crash involved Reeves' SUV and a Volkswagen sedan, with the drivers heading to the 3rd District police station before colliding with a Chevy SUV. Sadly, the 45-year-old woman driving the Chevy lost her life as a result of the incident, while a 43-year-old passenger sustained critical injuries. The driver of the Volkswagen and Reeves also suffered injuries. Reeves is set to appear for a detention hearing on Wednesday.
