Chase ends in deadly crash near Lacombe on Memorial Day
The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office is investigating a chase that ended in a deadly crash Monday night near Lacombe. According to the sheriff's office, a patrol deputy tried to pull over a Porsche near the Airport Road exit on Interstate 12. The sheriff's office said the driver refused to stop and led the deputy on a chase in the westbound lanes of I-12. According to the sheriff's office, the deputy lost sight of the car. The car crashed into the trees near the Lacombe exit. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office has not released the identity of the driver. The sheriff's office said the driver did have open warrants.
