Charges pending for driver in Ohio highway pileup
A driver has been charged for stopping abruptly on Interstate-71 just before a multi-car collision near Columbus. The incident occurred in May on I-71 southbound, close to the Interstate 670 exit. Video footage shared by the Ohio Department of Transportation captured the moment a car halted in the middle of the highway to wait for an opportunity to merge into an exit lane, leading to a subsequent pileup when another car failed to stop in time. The driver of the red car involved is facing charges of reckless operation of a motor vehicle. Thankfully, no serious injuries were reported from the crash. An official from ODOT emphasized the dangers of such actions and reminded drivers to avoid stopping unexpectedly on highways.
