Charges filed in fatal Winston-Salem motorcycle crash

A man has been arrested in connection to a crash that resulted in the death of a motorcyclist. The Winston-Salem Police Department reported that Hilario Avila Hernandez, 42, is facing charges including misdemeanor death by vehicle. The fatal incident took place on July 11 at 8:30 p.m. at the intersection of South Main Street and Konnoak Drive. According to authorities, Hernandez collided with Daniel Clinard, 35, who was riding a 2024 Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Clinard tragically died at the scene. In addition to the death by vehicle charge, Hernandez has been charged with several other offenses such as driving without a license, insurance, or registration, as well as displaying a fraudulent license plate and failure to yield during a left turn. Following his arrest, Hernandez was released on a $10,000 unsecured bond.
