Charges filed against two men for fatal 2022 dump truck crash
Two men have been charged three years after a tragic accident in Big Cottonwood Canyon that resulted in the deaths of a woman and her unborn child. The incident occurred when a dump truck collided with an oncoming vehicle, claiming the life of 36-year-old Jessica Keetch Minnesota, who was also 12 weeks pregnant. The driver of the dump truck, Jonathan Ryan Sargent, claimed that the brakes failed and caused the vehicle to accelerate beyond the speed limit. Investigators found that faulty maintenance and lack of proper adjustment of the brakes contributed to the accident. Sargent and Dalton Nathan Wheeler, who operated the company owning the truck, have been charged with second-degree felony manslaughter in connection with the incident.
