Charges filed against Ogdensburg man in deadly accident involving Amish buggy

A man from Ogdensburg, aged 34, was arrested by New York State Police in connection to a crash in 2023 involving an Amish buggy in Oswegatchie, New York. The incident led to the death of one person and serious injuries to another. The man, identified as Clark Zanker, faces charges of criminally negligent homicide and third-degree assault. The crash occurred on State Route 812, involving a horse-drawn Amish buggy and a pickup truck. Tragically, the crash resulted in the death of 21-year-old Abraham Shetler and severe injuries to 19-year-old Joseph Yoder. Zanker allegedly struck the buggy from behind, causing the passengers to be thrown from the vehicle. Zanker was released on his own recognizance after being arraigned in Gouverneur Court.
