Charges filed against Jeffry Knight in Clearwater Ferry crash
Officials have announced that Jeffry Knight, the man operating the private vessel that collided with the Clearwater Ferry several months ago, has been arrested. He is facing charges of leaving the scene of a boating accident involving death and serious bodily injury. Knight, the former owner of Jannus Live who resigned shortly after the incident, was reportedly at the helm of the private vessel when the collision occurred near the Memorial Causeway. The crash resulted in injuries to multiple passengers and the tragic death of Jose Castro. Following an extensive investigation involving multiple agencies, Knight was apprehended by the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office while heading towards his home. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission praised the collaborative efforts of law enforcement partners and the State Attorney's Office in seeking justice for those impacted by the tragedy. FWC has expressed sympathy to all affected by the incident and will provide a briefing on their investigation into the Clearwater Ferry crash.
