
Charges filed against Central Texas man in crash that killed 5 Dallas women on birthday trip
A man from Central Texas has been arrested and is facing charges of manslaughter after being involved in a tragic crash near Austin last month, resulting in the death of five young women from the Dallas area, who were on a birthday trip. Authorities revealed that Kody Lane Talley, 37, of Leander, was apprehended by the Texas Department of Public Safety and placed in the Burnet County Jail following the incident that occurred on July 25 on U.S. 281 near Park Road 4 in Burnet County. The crash, which happened around 6 p.m., involved Talley's pickup truck colliding with two other vehicles, resulting in the deaths of Thalia Salinas, Ruby Cruz, Brianna Valadez, Desiree Cervantez, and Jacqueline Velazco Ventura, who were all in their early 20s. The victims, who were longtime friends, were on a birthday celebration trip to Kingsland, Texas. The families of the victims are devastated by the loss and community support has been shown through donations via GoFundMe accounts established for each family. The investigation into the crash is still ongoing, according to the DPS.
