Charge in deadly crash on US 93: Florence man faces vehicular homicide
A 24-year-old man from Florence, identified as Anthony Richard Kelley, is facing a charge of vehicular homicide while under the influence following a fatal accident on Thursday evening. The collision occurred on U.S. Highway 93 south of Florence around 8:15 p.m., where Kelley's vehicle reportedly struck 81-year-old Michael Raymond "Otto" Thill's car. According to court records, Kelley was driving at a high speed in the northbound lane when he rear-ended Thill's vehicle, causing it to veer into the southbound lanes, leave the road, and overturn. Unfortunately, Thill passed away at the scene of the crash. Kelley admitted to authorities that he had consumed multiple beers several hours before the incident. Hospital tests confirmed that his blood alcohol level was more than double the legal limit. With a previous DUI conviction on his record, Kelley is currently in custody on a $100,000 bond.
