Chaos in Gatlinburg: Several cars collide, injuring 6
Investigators are currently working to determine the cause of a recent multi-vehicle collision that occurred over the weekend in a well-known tourist destination. The incident took place in downtown Gatlinburg, Tennessee on Sunday, June 1, in an area bustling with tourists enjoying the shops and eateries. Witness videos obtained by Storyful revealed significant vehicle damage and debris scattered across the road. A witness recounted that a white van appeared to be speeding recklessly, striking multiple vehicles at around 100 miles per hour. Emergency responders swiftly arrived on the scene to assist the injured, who included pedestrians among others. Initial reports indicated that at least six individuals were injured in the crash, with three requiring helicopter transport to a medical center. The Tennessee Highway Patrol later suggested that a medical emergency might have contributed to the collision, with a minivan driver allegedly accelerating unexpectedly and causing a chain reaction of accidents.
