Chain-reaction 6-car crash on I-405 ramp in Bellevue injures 3 people

A chain-reaction crash involving six vehicles blocked southbound Interstate 405 near the Coal Creek Parkway ramp in Bellevue for about four hours late Tuesday night, leaving three people injured, according to the Washington State Patrol. The collision was reported at 10:16 p.m. on southbound I-405 at the ramp to Coal Creek, near milepost 10.2. The report says vehicles two through six were stopped for traffic in the left lane when vehicle one failed to decelerate and struck the rear of vehicle two, triggering a series of collisions. Vehicle one came to rest in the left lane, while the remaining vehicles came to rest on the right shoulder. Three people were injured and taken to the hospital. The report named the cause of the crash as DUI, and the driver of the first vehicle was arrested on suspicion of DUI and vehicular assault.
