CEO Clueless on How Fatal Crash Occurred
The CEO of a helicopter tour company in New York City expressed immense sorrow and confusion over a recent incident in which one of their helicopters crashed into the Hudson River, resulting in the deaths of six individuals. The tragic accident involved a Bell 206L-4 LongRanger IV helicopter operated by New York Helicopter Tours. The passengers on board were a Spanish family, and the pilot's identity has not been disclosed. The pilot had communicated a low fuel situation and intention to return to base during a sightseeing tour of New York on April 10. Unfortunately, the helicopter never made it back, with four victims pronounced dead at the scene and two others succumbing to their injuries later on. Michael Roth, CEO of New York Helicopter Tours, shared his grief and uncertainty about the crash, indicating that his pilot had reported a fuel problem before the incident. Roth emphasized that the company is devastated by the tragedy and has been deeply affected by the loss. Both the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) are conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the crash, with initial speculation pointing to a possible fuel shortage, though mechanical issues have not been ruled out.
