Cause of fatal helicopter crash still undetermined

Investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board are currently inspecting the remains of a helicopter that tragically crashed in the Hudson River, claiming the lives of all six individuals on board including Agustin Escobar, a Siemens executive, his wife, Mercè Camprubí Montal, and their three children. The pilot of the helicopter also perished in the accident. Jennifer Homendy, the chairwoman of NTSB, has disclosed that despite the pilot having over 700 hours of flight experience, it is uncertain how much exposure he had with the Bell 206 model involved in the crash. The cause of the crash remains unknown at this early stage of the investigation. Divers promptly retrieved the victims' bodies from the river soon after the occurrence, with four casualties confirmed on-site and the remaining two succumbing to their injuries at nearby hospitals. The Escobar family, who were visiting from Spain, have left their homeland in mourning. Authorities will closely analyze online videos capturing the incident, including one depicting the helicopter's disintegration and flip before plummeting into the river. Dive teams are still combing the waters for parts of the helicopter, urging the public to forward any photos or videos of the crash to [email protected] for further review.
