Carrollton chemical accident leaves man with severe burns; leak still uncontrolled, officials report

A man sustained severe burns in a chemical incident that occurred in Carrollton on Wednesday afternoon. The accident took place at WMC Wire International on John Connally Drive, close to Belt Line Road near Marsh Lane at approximately 3:20 p.m. According to a city representative, the man was injured while draining a tank containing acid due to a pipe issue, resulting in his clothes being burned off by the corrosive substance. He has been transported to the burn unit at Parkland Hospital, although his current condition is not known. The city reported that the leak responsible for the burns has not been contained, and emergency crews are actively working to halt the chemical flow. Fortunately, no evacuations have been deemed necessary at this time, and no other injuries have been reported.
