
Car rear-ends train near Minneapolis' Columbia Park injures two.
According to authorities, a collision occurred near Columbia Park in northeast Minneapolis when a driver rear-ended another vehicle at a rail crossing, causing both vehicles to be pushed into a passing train late Wednesday night. Upon responding to the incident around 2:30 a.m., law enforcement discovered two severely damaged cars. Initial reports suggest that a female driver in a Cadillac Escalade had stopped at a railroad crossing on Central Avenue Northeast while a train went by. Subsequently, a man driving a Toyota Rav4 collided with the Cadillac from behind, propelling both cars into the path of the train. The driver of the Toyota was taken to Hennepin Healthcare with serious injuries, while the female driver in the Cadillac sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was also transported to Hennepin Healthcare. Investigators are looking into the cause of the crash and whether alcohol was a contributing factor. No arrests or citations have been made in relation to the incident.
