Car hauler overturns on I-85 spilling oil into Lake Hartwell; lanes still blocked

A car hauler overturned Wednesday morning along I-85 in Oconee County, South Carolina, spilling oil into Lake Hartwell, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol. The crash happened early Wednesday morning in the southbound lanes near exit 1, which is the exit to South Carolina Highway 11-Walhalla. All southbound lanes are blocked as of 1:15 p.m. Video shows cars getting off the exit at mile marker 2. Troopers said the car hauler was the only vehicle involved and it hit a guardrail. They said no one was injured but the driver will be charged with driving too fast for conditions. Here is the detour for drivers:Traffic should get off at exit 1. At the stop sign, turn right onto Highway 11. Travel 13 miles to US 123. Turn right onto Highway 123 ramp. At the intersection of Highway 123, turn right on Highway 123 southbound and go 14 miles on Highway 123 through the city of Westminster to the Georgia line.
