Car crashes into Excelsior Springs veterans hall; second crash into its roof since February

A car went airborne and crashed into the roof of an Excelsior Springs veterans hall early Wednesday – the second car to do so in just a few months. Excelsior Springs police said around 7:20 a.m., a man was driving on Linwood Avenue when he failed to stop at St. Louis Avenue. His car then went airborne over the road, crashing into the Clay-Ray Veterans Hall. This is the second instance of a car crashing into the building's roof. In February, another car went airborne and plummeted into the roof, seriously injuring two teenagers and leading to charges. The man was able to walk to an ambulance and was taken to the hospital for evaluation. The driver could face charges if the crash did not stem from a medical situation. Police said speed may have been a factor, but the incident is under investigation. The vehicle remained in the roof hours later. Police said getting the car out would take time.
