
Car crashes into 2 homes in Burien, WA
A large police and fire department response filled the streets of a Burien neighborhood after a car crashed into two homes on Monday afternoon. The King County Sheriff's Office confirms the driver was the sole occupant of the car that crashed into the homes at around 2:30 p.m. as they were driving eastbound along South 120th Street while approaching Military Road South in Burien. At this point, authorities say the driver failed to stop at the intersection and continued, striking the curb at a high enough speed for it to launch up in the air and through one side of a house and slam into another. King County Sheriff’s Officials tell FOX 13 Seattle the driver is a man in his 20s."I’m still shaken, angry," said Joseph Nguyen.Nguyen told FOX 13 Seattle he was inside his home with his girlfriend and his parents when he heard an explosion."I don’t know why that person hit our house," he said.The owners of the first home tell FOX 13 Seattle investigators said their home is inhabitable. "We have friends and family that we can stay with," said Mark Kollosch.Kollosch tells FOX 13 Seattle he was at work and his son and wife were not home when the driver smashed through five walls of their home.Their dog was inside, but amazingly uninjured.Kollosch took FOX 13 Seattle into his home to show the devastation the driver caused.There were no reported injuries to pedestrians or people inside the homes as of Monday afternoon. The driver of the car was treated for minor injuries and was detained by responding law enforcement.Deputies have not said what, if any, charges the driver faces.The speed limits on the roads around the neighborhood are 35 mph.
