Car crash in Monson woods sparks fire, driver seriously injured
MONSON, Mass. (WWLP) - Monson police and fire crews were called to a vehicle crash in the woods resulting in a fire early Sunday morning. The Monson Police Department stated that at approximately 1:08 a.m. on Sunday, officers were called to Lower Hampden Road regarding a report of a bad motor vehicle accident. Investigation revealed that the vehicle failed to negotiate the roadway and ended up in the woods nearby. As officers were on their way, they were notified by Westcomm Regional Dispatch that the vehicle had caught on fire and was spreading to the surrounding area. The Monson and Hampden Fire Departments were called to put out the fire. The sole occupant of the vehicle was brought to the hospital to be treated for serious injuries.
