Capture of one of three escaped monkeys following truck accident in Mississippi
Mississippi authorities have reported that one of the escaped monkeys was successfully recaptured after a truck carrying the animals crashed last month. The Jasper County Sheriff's Office shared the news on its Facebook page, stating that a homeowner found the monkey on their property near Heidelberg. The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks responded and now have the monkey in their possession. The incident involved a truck carrying Rhesus monkeys, most of which were unfortunately killed in the crash. A team from Tulane University confirmed that three monkeys had escaped, and efforts were made to locate and secure them. The monkeys are typically used for medical research and were being transported to the Tulane University National Biomedical Research Center at the time of the accident. The remaining monkeys are now being transported back to the research center in Covington, Louisiana.
