Canadian faces charges of manslaughter and homicide in deadly 2020 Ulster collision
A man from Canada, Luc Leblanc, has been accused of causing a tragic crash that resulted in the deaths of three individuals in Ulster County in 2020. Recently, the Ulster County District Attorney's Office unveiled that Leblanc, 66, is facing charges including three counts of second-degree manslaughter and three counts of criminally negligent homicide. In August 2020, Leblanc was operating a 44,000-pound tractor trailer on I-87 in Ulster Town when it allegedly collided with a Honda Accord and Kia Sedona minivan, resulting in the loss of a 47-year-old mother and her two children. The crash, along with Leblanc's driving behavior, was captured on his dashcam. Following a lengthy legal process, Leblanc was ultimately extradited from Canada to face the charges, surrendering himself to authorities on May 2, 2025. The New York State Police and the Ulster County DA's Office have been commended for their persistent efforts in bringing Leblanc to justice. The accused was arraigned in Ulster County Court, and District Attorney Emmanuel Nneji emphasized the commitment to seeking justice for the victims despite international boundaries.
