Busy interchange temporarily closes due to fatal crash

Law enforcement in Massachusetts is currently investigating a fatal crash that led to the closure of a bustling interchange on July 4th. The incident took place where Route 28 meets Interstate 495 in Middleborough around 8:27 a.m. Emergency responders discovered that a vehicle had veered off the road and into a wooded area. The driver involved was identified as 72-year-old Susan Sumner from Middleborough, who unfortunately passed away at the scene. Due to the crash, Route 28 and the ramps connecting it to Interstate 495 had to be shut down for almost three hours. The Middleborough Police Department is working alongside State Police detectives attached to the Plymouth County District Attorney's Office, as well as the CRASH Investigative Team, to investigate the cause of the accident.
