
Bus accident in Sri Lanka claims lives of 21 and leaves at least 14 injured
A tragic bus accident occurred in Sri Lanka's tea-growing hill country over the weekend, resulting in the loss of 21 lives and leaving 14 injured. The incident took place near Kotmale, approximately 140 kilometers east of Colombo, in a mountainous area of central Sri Lanka. According to Deputy Minister of Transport and Highways Prasanna Gunasena, the bus, carrying around 50 passengers, skidded off a cliff and overturned. The injured, including the driver, were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. This is a devastating incident that highlights the dangers posed by reckless driving and poorly maintained roads in the region.
