Bus accident in Darke County reported

In Greenville, Ohio, a school bus en route to Greenville Elementary School was hit by a vehicle head-on Friday morning. According to the Darke County Sheriff's Office, the collision occurred on US-127 involving the bus and another vehicle. Sgt. Tony Royer revealed to our 2 NEWS photographer that the bus had students aboard at the time of the accident and they were being evacuated. The car's driver, a 26-year-old woman, was trapped and airlifted to an area hospital with serious injuries. Conversely, two students and the school bus driver sustained minor injuries and were also taken to a hospital for evaluation. Initial findings from the investigation indicate that the vehicle crossed the centerline while traveling northbound, leading to the crash. Fortunately, the presence of ridge rails along the road prevented the bus from running down a steep slope. Superintendent Julie Jones of Greenville City Schools reported that there were eight students on board the bus, with no injuries reported on-site, but three individuals were hospitalized as a precaution.
