Brutal pickup truck crash in Castaic rolls off 5 Freeway, injures five
Five people were injured in a brutal pickup truck crash that rolled off the 5 Freeway in Castaic on Sunday. The Los Angeles County Fire Department told KTLA that crews were called to the site of a single-vehicle crash on the northbound 5 near Hasley Canyon Road at 1:07 p.m. Sunday. At the scene, crews found five injured patients – two of whom were in critical condition, and the other three suffering from minor injuries. Early reports suggested these were possibly family members – two parents and three kids – but KTLA has not yet confirmed that detail. Fire officials said at least three of the five patients were transported, but could not provide further information on their genders or ages. Unconfirmed reports from the stringer service Key News Network (KNN) said the truck veered off the freeway and rolled about 100 feet onto the grounds of the Pitchess Detention Center. The California Highway Patrol also responded to the crash and closed down two of the four northbound lanes for an hour on Sunday. CHP said it is investigating the crash and did not immediately have any information on what may have caused the violent rollover.
