Brewton teen riding in truck bed killed in Escambia County crash

ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Ala. (WKRG) — A crash in Escambia County has killed a teenager from Brewton. According to a news release from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, the crash happened on Sunday, March 29, at around 5:33 p.m. on Escambia County 55. A 2006 Ford F-150 carrying five people left the road and overturned. An 18-year-old from Brewton was riding in the bed of the truck and was thrown out. They were pronounced dead on the scene. Two other teens, a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old, were riding in the truck bed as well. They were injured and taken to a local hospital for their injuries. A 15-year-old riding in the cab of the truck, who was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, was also injured and taken to a local hospital. The driver of the truck, a 16-year-old, was not wearing a seat belt either and had to be taken to a local hospital for their injuries as well. ALEA Troopers are continuing to investigate the incident.
