Brave Texas officers rescue baby from overturned vehicle

Law enforcement officers from Texas responding to a harrowing crash on Interstate 30 involving a baby were captured on body camera footage showcasing a remarkable rescue effort by officers and bystanders. The Fort Worth Police Department shared the video of the heroic incident on social media, causing it to quickly gain popularity online. The car crash took place on the morning of Oct. 23, where a woman and her one-year-old child were ejected from the vehicle. Officer Buddy Calzada revealed to ABC News that Sgt. R. Nichols and Officer E. Bounds were the first to arrive at the accident scene, having been only a few vehicles behind the incident. Strangers who had halted at the scene immediately assisted in searching for the child as Nichols rushed to a flipped car on the grass nearby. He suspected the child was trapped under the vehicle and urged onlookers to help lift the car. After the child was freed and administered CPR by Nichols, the baby began showing signs of recovery, much to the relief of everyone involved. Both mother and child were reported to be in a stable condition the following day, with expectations of a full recovery, as stated by the Fort Worth PD. Calzada commended the bravery and fast response of the officers, as well as the citizens who selflessly assisted. The police department's post expressed pride in the life-saving actions of Nichols and Bounds, recognizing the importance of such incidents in highlighting the challenges faced by law enforcement.
