Boonville mayor accused of hit-and-run

The Indiana State Police are investigating a hit-and-run incident involving Boonville Mayor Charles Wyatt, 71, who has been accused of leaving the scene of a crash. The incident took place on May 14 at the Boonville VFW, where Mayor Wyatt was reportedly driving his city-owned truck and collided with another vehicle. Allegedly, he did not stop or contact the other driver or law enforcement. Authorities were able to link the incident to Wyatt after the other driver provided a license plate number and vehicle description. The case has been transferred to a special prosecutor in Knox County, with a criminal charge filed against Mayor Wyatt for leaving the scene of a crash. A court summons is forthcoming, with no date set yet. Eyewitness News has reached out to the mayor's office for a comment but has not received a response. This situation is ongoing and will be updated as more information becomes available.
