Bond set for ex-Ohio State player in deadly Dublin crash
A former Ohio State football player, Kirk Barton, who was involved in a fatal car crash in Dublin over the weekend, appeared in court for the first time on Monday. Barton, 40, was given a $500,000 cash surety bond during his arraignment in Franklin County Municipal Court. As part of the conditions, Barton is barred from driving or leaving central Ohio, and his passport will be held by his attorney. A preliminary hearing for Barton is scheduled for July 1. The crash, in which Barton reportedly drove his pickup truck at a high speed and struck another vehicle, resulted in the death of 24-year-old Ethan Perry. Barton sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was released from the hospital into police custody. His professional football career was brief, playing for multiple NFL teams only briefly after his time at Ohio State.
