Body of 25-year-old Dylan Asbury recovered from Ruth Lake after boating accident
The body of a 25-year-old man who went missing after a boating accident on Ruth Lake has been recovered, Trinity County investigators said. Investigators said Asbury was on a small fishing boat with two other people near the Boy Scout campground when it flipped about 30 yards from shore. All three began swimming toward shore, but Asbury started struggling and went under, investigators said. His body was found Sunday. Asbury’s family is now asking for support. “He's just a loving, kind kid. He always had a great heart and a smile. He'd come into a room and he would greet everybody,” said Asbury’s mom Lisa Peeples . Peeples said the family also wants to raise money to provide life jackets at campgrounds. “I want to raise money also and get life jackets at all the campgrounds that are free and usable for everybody. No one should go without a life jacket. Don't get on a boat without a life jacket,” Peeples said. Peeples also mentioned hoping to use leftover money to help fund a possible remotely operated vehicle, or ROV, for Trinity County diving and subsea tools.
