Boat from fatal crash in New Haven Harbor retrieved

In New Haven, Connecticut, a tragic boat crash resulted in the loss of two lives in the New Haven Harbor. The boat has now been recovered by crews, showcasing visible damage to its front hull. While initial findings suggest the boat collided with a breakwall, authorities from the Environmental Conservation Police are continuing their investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident. Following the crash, a Connecticut State Police dive team found the two individuals on Thursday evening and transported them to the West Shore Fire District’s firehouse in West Haven, where they were later declared deceased by the Connecticut Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. The names of the victims have not been disclosed as next of kin are being informed. The Coast Guard shared that the capsized vessel was located on the breakwall the same day. Concerns were raised on Thursday morning about the missing boaters, who were last seen having dinner at a New Haven restaurant. The Coast Guard initiated the search after receiving reports of their potential absence from a boat trip between Stratford and Norwalk. One of their phones was tracked to a cell tower near the New Haven Harbor west break wall at 9:40 p.m.
