Back-to-back fatal crashes on Ohio Turnpike
Two fatal crashes occurred on the Ohio Turnpike in Erie County Sunday morning, with the Ohio State Highway Patrol now conducting an investigation. In the first incident at 6:40 a.m., an International 4300 truck veered off the roadway and collided with a stationary tow truck; the truck driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries, while the passenger, Dantrail Reeses, tragically lost his life. The second crash, which happened at 7:35 a.m. in the traffic backup caused by the initial incident, involved a Toyota Sienna colliding with a Peterbilt 389 tractor-trailer. Unfortunately, both occupants of the Toyota were pronounced dead at the scene, while the Peterbilt driver was unhurt. The names of those killed in the second crash will be disclosed later, as the investigation continues. The affected stretch of road was closed for three hours for cleanup operations following both incidents.
