Austin police investigate fatal crash involving pedestrian
AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin police are investigating a traffic death following a crash that involved two vehicles and a pedestrian on Sunday. Police said the pedestrian died at the scene and has not yet been identified. According to APD, the crash happened around 2:15 a.m. on the 3100 block of State Highway 71 heading east. APD said the vehicle that hit the pedestrian left the scene before police arrived, and the driver of the second vehicle remained, was not impaired and cooperated with the investigation. Police said this was Austin’s 14th fatal crash of 2026. APD asked anyone with information to contact the Vehicular Homicide Unit at 512-974-8111.
