Austin company gives free home renovation to man post-accident

Carlos Vallejo, 58, is back in his newly renovated home, thanks to the efforts of CG&S Design-Build and local contractors who completely transformed his house in East Austin. Vallejo, who lost his right arm and right leg in a boating accident in 2018, was living in a home that was no longer accessible to him. The remodel of his one-bedroom, one-bathroom house included making the kitchen and bathroom more user-friendly, with lowered counters and cabinets that Vallejo can easily reach. The project was part of the Statesman Season for Caring program, which raises funds for local nonprofit organizations to help community members in need. Since 1999, the program has contributed over $21 million in donations and services. The CG&S team, along with several contractors and subcontractors, collaborated to gift Vallejo a renovated home worth over $150,000. The transformation allows Vallejo to move around his home comfortably and independently, with features like pull-down shelves, lowered appliances, and accessible closets and bathroom. CG&S Design-Build's president, Dolores Davis, was inspired by Vallejo's story and the opportunity to give back to the community. This project is the fifth contribution by CG&S Design-Build to Season for Caring, illustrating their commitment to helping neighbors in need.
