Arrested driver in Fort Wayne chase and crash resulting in woman's death
A 24-year-old man identified as Tyler Alberding is currently in custody at Allen County Jail following a tragic accident on Monday due to a pursuit related to drugs. Alberding reportedly did not stop when law enforcement officers attempted to pull him over as part of a drug probe. The chase led to a collision involving an SUV and a pickup truck at the intersection of Clinton Street and Wallen Road. An elderly woman in the SUV, identified as 93-year-old Carolyn Hutchinson from Fort Wayne, was critically injured and later passed away at the hospital. An 80-year-old man in the truck sustained severe injuries and was hospitalized. Among the various charges brought against Alberding, as listed on the Allen County Sheriff's Department website, are leaving the scene of a fatal crash, driving with a suspended license, and drug-related offenses like methamphetamine and cocaine distribution. Investigations into the incident are ongoing by the Indiana State Police.
