Arrest made in Wichita fatal crash back in 2024
WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) - Wichita police said a 33-year-old man was arrested in a deadly collision that occurred in late 2024. On Dec. 29, 2024, officers responded to a collision in the 200 block of N. Charles Street. Wichita police said fire and EMS located the vehicle that collided with a tree and fence. The vehicle caught fire after the engine was separated from the chassis. Police said the passenger, identified as 32-year-old Chekiel Wright, died, and the driver was seriously injured. On Wednesday, the driver was arrested on suspicion of murder in the second degree, unintentional but reckless. Police said at the time that alcohol and drugs were suspected factors in the crash.
