
Arrest made in Proctor High School incident
A man from Utica has been taken into custody after officials conducted a two-week investigation into a severe incident near Proctor High School, as reported by Utica Police. The incident on Hilton Avenue near Proctor High School on Thursday, September 11 involved a female who was hit by a vehicle. She sustained serious injuries and was taken to Wynn Hospital. The police did not disclose her current condition. The Utica Police Department's Patrol Division handled the case and, over the span of the investigation, which involved reviewing surveillance footage and eyewitness accounts, officers were able to ascertain the identity of the suspect, identified as 21-year-old Malik Ismail from Utica. It was found that Ismail was speeding through a school zone during dismissal hours. Ismail was apprehended on Monday, September 22 without issue. Charges are currently being brought against him.
