Arrest made in fatal Temple I-35 traffic collision
An arrest has been made and one person has died following a traffic accident on southbound Interstate 35 in Bell County. Temple Police responded to the incident near Exit #298 around 3:38 p.m. on Monday where an individual was struck by an 18-wheeler while attempting to cross the highway. The driver, identified as Jesus Garcia, initially did not stop but later complied with the investigation after stopping near Salado. Garcia has been arrested for Failure to Stop and Render Aid Involving Personal Injury or Death. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Rosanne Fisher, and no other injuries were reported. The highway was closed for hours as the Temple PD's Traffic Reconstruction Unit investigated. Travelers were advised to exit before Exit #299 and take an alternative route. The case is currently under investigation, and anyone with information should contact the Temple Police Department or Bell County Crime Stoppers.
