
Arrest made in fatal Huntington Beach pedestrian incident
A 21-year-old man was apprehended for suspicion of driving under the influence after reportedly hitting and fatally injuring a 35-year-old pedestrian in Huntington Beach on Sunday. The incident occurred at approximately 12:45 a.m. at the intersection of Atlanta Avenue and Delaware Street, as reported by the Huntington Beach Police Department. Authorities stated that the pedestrian, whose identity was disclosed solely as a 35-year-old resident of Huntington Beach, was hit by a black Audi RS5 vehicle. Responders reached the scene to find the pedestrian unconscious on the street, according to a police news release. Despite efforts by paramedics, the pedestrian was declared deceased. The driver of the Audi RS5 is believed to have been impaired and was detained at the site without problems, per the HBPD release. The identity of the suspect is currently unknown.
