Arkansas police lieutenant faces DUI charge following crash injuring man
A lieutenant from the Hughes Police Department in Arkansas faced charges of driving while intoxicated following a crash that left a man trapped under his overturned truck, according to authorities. The incident occurred at Highway 49 near Jordan on the early morning of Dec. 26. Emergency responders found an Arkansas police vehicle against a fence and a white Ford overturned, with a 19-year-old named Peyton Gregory trapped underneath. Corbin Dixon, 35, identified as the driver of the police vehicle, was determined to have a blood alcohol content of 0.12%. Dixon failed to provide a valid breath sample and later consented to a blood test at a hospital. The police department placed Dixon on administrative leave pending investigations by external and internal authorities. The victim of the crash, Gregory, recounted his harrowing experience and expressed his gratitude for surviving the accident despite sustaining serious injuries. Additionally, Assistant Police Chief Keith Jefferson mentioned Dixon's claim of being in pursuit of a suspicious individual earlier that day. Gregory is scheduled for another surgery and faces a long recovery ahead.
