Arkansas business owner in the northwest held by ICE after crash

Over the weekend, a woman in Prairie Grove, Arkansas faced the distressing situation of her husband being arrested and taken to an out-of-state U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention center following a car accident. Waldin Sanchez was taken into custody after driving without a license and recklessly crashing his car. His wife, Maria Verde, co-owns Del Rio Supermarket in Prairie Grove, which they built together. Due to Sanchez's arrest and subsequent detention, Verde now has to manage the business and care for their three children on her own. Despite these challenges, she has received an outpouring of support after sharing her story on social media. Friends and customers, like Jessie Kersh Hunt, have expressed sympathy for Verde's situation, recognizing the difficulties she faces in running the business and supporting her family amidst the legal process. Verde remains determined to stand by her husband, keep the supermarket operational, and is even planning to sell tamales to raise funds for his legal fees until his court date.
