APD investigates single-vehicle I-40 fatal motorcycle crash
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Albuquerque police are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash they say happened Friday night. Officers responded to the area of Westbound I-40 and the off-ramp to southbound Coors Blvd NW just before 9:00 p.m. to a motorcycle that crashed into a guardrail. APD says a gray Kawasaki motorcycle was traveling westbound at a high rate of speed and as it approached the Coors exit, the driver failed to properly make the turn and hit the guardrail. The impact ejected the rider, resulting in fatal injuries. They say no other vehicles were involved in the crash. Excessive speed is being determined as the primary contributing factor. APD is continuing to investigate the crash.
