Ambulance with patient and paramedic crashes in Northville Township
An individual involved in a vehicle collision in Novi on Friday stole an ambulance and then crashed into another vehicle. The ambulance had a patient and a paramedic inside at the time it was taken, as reported by the ambulance company. Fortunately, all individuals involved in the second crash are expected to recover. During a three-car accident in Novi around 3:25 p.m., a Medstar paramedic team was treating multiple patients when the ambulance was stolen by one of those involved in the initial collision. The stolen vehicle was pursued by police and eventually crashed into another vehicle in Northville Township, causing a fire. The ambulance sustained significant damage to its front. Those involved, including the paramedic, initial patient, the victim of the second crash, and the suspect, were all taken to Henry Ford Providence Hospital in Novi with non-life-threatening injuries. Sadly, the ambulance is beyond repair. Medstar CEO Kolby Miller expressed gratitude for the safety of their crew and for the assistance provided by partner agencies and bystanders, and mentioned collaboration with Novi and Northville Police Departments in the ongoing investigation.
