Ambulance stolen with patient inside, crashes near Novi-Northville border, according to police
Police arrested a suspect who allegedly stole an ambulance with a patient inside from a crash site and later crashed into another vehicle at the Novi-Northville city border. Novi Police Chief Erick Zinser stated that the incident occurred around 3:15 p.m. at the intersection of 10 Mile and Novi roads. The driver, responsible for the initial crash, took off in one of Medstar's ambulances while a paramedic was treating a patient inside. Law enforcement pursued the stolen ambulance, which eventually collided with another vehicle at Eight Mile and Beck Road. The suspect tried to flee but was apprehended by police. Fortunately, the paramedic and patient in the ambulance sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to a hospital, while the driver of the other vehicle involved had minor injuries. The ambulance was severely damaged in the incident. Medstar's CEO, Kolby Miller, expressed gratitude for the safety of their team and the prompt response from authorities and bystanders. Medstar is cooperating with the Novi and Northville Police Departments for the ongoing investigation.
