Ambulance from Polk County crashes, fatal accident while on emergency call
An ambulance belonging to Polk County Fire Rescue was involved in a fatal crash on Tuesday morning in Winter Haven while rushing to an emergency call. The collision occurred on Spirit Lake Road, involving three vehicles. Two PCFR crew members inside the ambulance sustained minor injuries and were treated at a local hospital before being discharged. Unfortunately, the driver of the second vehicle did not survive. The driver of the third vehicle was unharmed. The victim's identity has not been disclosed. The Polk County Sheriff's Office is leading the investigation, and PCFR's Special Operations crew assisted with vehicle extraction at the site of the crash. At this time, it is unclear if any charges will be filed.
