Amarillo Police Department car in crash Sunday evening
The Amarillo Police Department reported that one of its vehicles was in a collision on Sunday while providing traffic control on I-40 east. During the incident, officers were directing traffic as a result of another crash on I-40 when one of the officers in a marked patrol unit was struck from behind. The officer was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment and later discharged.
