Alijah Arenas, son of former NBA All-Star Gilbert Arenas, is making encouraging strides in his recovery following a frightening car accident that left him in a coma.He has been released from the hospital and is now awake, talking, and able to walk again—a positive update after a deeply concerning situation.ESPN's Shams Charania shared the news via X on Wednesday.Here's the statement from the family."We are grateful to share that Alijah Arenas has been released from the hospital and is now resting comfortably under close watch. He remains blessed, resilient, and in high spirits."The family continues to ask for privacy during this time as they focus fully on Alijah's healing and well-being."We thank everyone for the continued prayers, encouragement, and outpouring support."The 18-year-old five-star recruit was driving back from the gym last Thursday in his Tesla Cybertruck before he "lost control." He was driving in Reseda, a town in Los Angeles County in the San Fernando Valley area.After the accident occurred, he was transported to a hospital and put into an induced coma due to his inhalation of smoke. Arenas was taken out of the coma a few days later, and it was revealed that he did not suffer any "major injuries."His father, Gilbert, shared the news on his podcast "No Chill with Gilbert Arenas."Aliaja had recently committed to USC. He was the No. 13-ranked recruit in his class of 2025 after reclassifying in December 2024 and committed to the Trojans in January 2025.The five-star prospect attended Chatsworth High School in L.A. and led his team to the final of the Division II championships. The senior stands at 6-foot-6 and weighs 197 pounds according to ESPN 100.
