Alcohol possible factor in I-75 crash injuring three, according to police
Early Saturday, three individuals were hospitalized after a collision caused by a driver traveling in the wrong direction on northbound Interstate 75, as reported by Michigan State Police. The incident occurred near Holbrook around 5 a.m. when troopers received alerts about a Dodge Durango heading south in the northbound lanes. Subsequently, a crash was documented by officials. Upon arriving at the scene, troopers discovered a Subaru with both occupants trapped inside. The 26-year-old driver from Detroit sustained broken bones and potential internal injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital. Additionally, a 65-year-old passenger from Detroit was hospitalized due to internal injuries. The 38-year-old Durango driver also received medical attention for head injuries. F/Lt. Mike Shaw stated in a release that the investigation into the crash is ongoing, with alcohol being a likely contributing factor. The closure of the freeway for approximately four hours for cleanup ensued. Shaw emphasized the importance of not driving under the influence and highlighted alternative transportation options. Michigan State Police will persist in investigating the accident.
